Easy Men's Knit Hat

                                   
Here in Idaho where I am writing this fantastic blog post, you could wear a hat anytime of the year. We definitely experience all four seasons and the weather can be unpredictable. While our summer days are warm sometimes the nights can be a bit cooler especially if you are exploring the mountain areas. I absolutely love Idaho and the never predictable weather, and there is no better way to accessorize than with a
hat!

This is a lighter hat that will fit a little snugger, which makes it perfect for an early spring or fall time! This pattern is a variation to another hat that i also have posted as a free pattern.

Supplies Needed

 2 colors of yarn in coordinating colors

o I used Caron Simply Soft in Black (color A)  and Royal Blue (color B)

 Size 6 circular needles

 Size 7 circular needles

 Stitch Marker

 Scissors

 Yarn Needle

Abbreviations

• K2TG = knit 2 togther

• *        *= sequence repeat

Notes

You can decrease using DPNs or the magic loop method. I use the magic loop method so my instructions will have my preferred method in more detail. Use whatever method works best for you, it shouldn’t change the outcome.

Pattern

Using US 6 needles cast on 100 stiches in Color A
Join in the round, and place your stitch marker
Still in color A
RND 1 -15 *K2,P2*

Switch to US 7 needles for the remainder of the hat
Switch to color B, this is the color you will use to work the rest of the hat
Rnd 16-37 Knit all stiches
Before starting RND 37 I switch to a longer cable by knitting all the stiches onto the longer cable, rather than slipping all the stiches.

Decrease RNDS
Rnd 38: *K8(K2TG)*
RND 39: K ALL
RND 40: *K7(K2TG)*
RND 41: K ALL
RND 42: *K6(K2TG)*
RND 43: K ALL
RND 44: *K5(K2TG)*
RND 45: K ALL
RND 46: *K4(K2TG)*
RND 47: K ALL
RND 48: *K3(K2TG)*
RND 49: K ALL
RND 50: *K2(K2TG)*
RND 51: K ALL
RND 52: *K1(K2TG)*
RND 53: K ALL
RND 54:*K2TG*

Cut your yarn leaving a tail long enough to pull through your remaining stiches.
Weave tail in through remaining stiches being careful not to drop any. Once you have your tail pulled through your remaining stiches you should be able to pull the yarn tight and you will see the hole at the top close.

Once the hole is closed pull the yarn tail through the very center though to the inside. Now that your tail is on the inside turn the hat inside out and knot off your yarn and then weave in your remaining ends.

Men's Folded Brim Hat

Who doesn't love a good warm hat? I know I do!! I don't know about you guys but my dad and my brother do not like fancy over the top things and to them a simple design is better, and warmth is a necessity! So I made a hat like this for my dad last winter and he loved it and has been asking me for another one, so I decided that while I was making it I might as well post the pattern so that others can enjoy it to! This hat is awesome, the folded brim makes it warmer around the ears, which is really important during those cold months, but it isnt so thick that it is a pain in the bum. 

I would say this hat is a little on the larger side, and my dad personally has a bit of a smaller head, but it still works for him so it is a very versatile pattern!

The color combinations that you could do with this hat are endless and that is awesome becasue the more you can personalize something the better!

Supplies Needed

• Size US 7 and US 6 Circular Needles 

• 2 skeins of coordinating worsted weight yarn. I used caron simply soft in charcoal and royal blue

• Stitch marker

• Needle to weave in ends

Pattern Notes & Abbreviations

• * = repeat sequence until you see another *

• K2tg = knit 2 together

• Rnd = round

Pattern

With size US 6 needles cast on 104 stitches, join in the round making sure not to twist your work and place your stich marker

In color 1 (royal blue)

Rnd 1-40: *K2,P2*

At this point you may think the hat looks a little funny, but remember this hat has a folded brim so it will only actually when worn be half the size it looks.

 In color 2 (charcoal) 

Switch to size 7 Needles for the rest

Rnd 41-56: K all stiches

Decrease Rounds 

Switch to longer circular cord or circular needles when ready. I switched on round 62, and knitted all the stiches onto the longer circular cord and finish hat using the magic loop method 

From row 57 until the end K all even rows

Rnd 57:  *k11(k2tg)* (96)
Rnd 59: *k10(k2tg)* (88)
Rnd 61: *k9(k2tg)* (80)
Rnd 63: *k8(k2tg)* (72)
Rnd 65: *k7(k2tg)* (64)

Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to pull through the remaining stiches 

Pull yarn through the remaining stiches and then pull through the middle to the inside, knot it and then finish weaving in all of the ends.

Shell Border Dish Cloth

I dont know about you guys but dust really bothers me, to see it irritates me and not to mention what it does to my allergies! The worst thing is when you dust and it just flies everywhre....UGH! So one day when i was cleaning and i had this half made project that i started and honestly had no intention of finishing (dont give me grief we all have those!) So i picked it up and used it to dust and to my surprise it was awesome! So i decided to share the love and not only does this make a fantastic dust cloth, it is super simple to make and i am excited for this! This pattern is really great for beginners because you do three different stiches but you repeat them so it gives you practice and its a dust cloth so there is no need for it to be pretty other than the fact that who doesnt like pretty things!!

I used Caron Simply Soft and an H hook. I find that the Caron Simply Soft yarn picks up the dust and holds it so you dont get as much of the dust flying all over, but you could literally probably use any yarn. I did not do a gage for this pattern becasue i didnt think there was much of a use for one. 

Pattern :

Measures about 7 in x 8.5 in

To get these measurements use a size H hook and Caron simply soft yarn(or equivalent)

In primary color 

CH 36

Row 1 : SC starting in 2nd chain from hook, and continue SC for the whole row. CH 1 and turn the work

Row 2 : HDC in all St for the row. CH 2 and turn the work

Row 3 : DC in all St. for the row. CH 2 and turn the work

Row 4 DC in all St. for the row. CH 1 and turn the work

Row 5 : SC in all St. for the row CH 1 and turn the work

Row 6 : repeat row 2 

Row 7 : Repeat row 3 

Row 8 Repeat row 4

Row 9: Repeat row 

Row 10 : Repeat row 2

Row 11 : Repeat row 3 

Row 12 : Repeat row 4 

Row 13 : Repeat row 1

Row 14 : Repeat row 2 

Row 15 : Repeat row 3 

Row 16 :Repeat row 4 

Row 17 :Repeat row 1

Row 18 : Repeat row 2 

Row 19 : Repeat row 3 

Row 20 : Repeat row 4 

Row 21: SC in all st. and fasten off after last st. 

And now it is time for the border

Border

On the last, Row 21, count three stitches and do a SC to hook on new yarn. 

Skip 2 st. so on the third st DC 5 times in the same stich

Skip 2 more st. and on the third SC

Skip 2 more stiches, and on the third DC 5 times in the same st. 

Continue doing that until you get to the corner, when you get to the corner you will DC 8 times in the same stich

Where you will then continue doing what you were doing before

Do this for all 4 sides.

When you get to the side where you started after DC 8 times in the last corner, SC in the beginning st, where you first started, and then fasten off! 

And now you are done!
