Women's Reversible Lace Trim Hat

This is awesome for some many reasons, and would look great on anyone! This hat is reversible which makes it extra awesome 1 hat but 2 different looks, and the crochet edge adds a cute, but simple look that really amplifies the look of this hat.

It is super simple and super cute, you couldn't ask for more. I hope you enjoy making this hat as much as i enjoyed designing and making this hat, it really is a one of a kind to go with a one of a kind girl!

Pattern

Using US 9 needle cast on 84 stitches
Join in the round and place your stitch marker

RND 1-20: *K1,P1*
The brim should be about 3.5 in

RND 21-60: *P3,K1*
I decrease using the magic loop method, so in order to get my work onto a larger cable, I knit it onto the cable the round before I start my decrease. For this pattern I worked round 60, knitting onto a longer cable

Once you have it on your longer cable you will separate the sides so that the side you will work first has 40 stitches and the side you will work second will have 44 stiches (this is so that when you decrease the number of stitches on each side will come out evenly)

To decrease using DPNs divide your stitches across 3 needles with 28 stitches on each needle and follow the pattern as normal. When you get to the last row of decreases with 7 stiches on each needle, it may make it easier to switch to using just 2 DPNs instead of 3.

RND 61: *(P2TG), P1, K1* (63)

RND 62: * (P2TG), K1* (42)

RND 63: *(P2TG)* (21)

RND 64: (P2TG) X5, P1, (P2TG) X5 (10)

RND 64 is where you will notice the difference in how you split up the sections when starting the magic loop method. You should have an extra stich on the second side so you will purl the first stitch and then purl 2 together 5 times after that finishing up the decreases

Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to pull through your remaining stiches. Using your yarn needle weave your tail through your remaining stiches so that when you pull the tail it will close the hole on the top. After the hole is closed pull the yarn through the center to the inside and then turn the hat inside out. Knot the hat at the top making it small since this hat is intended to be reversible. Then weave in the remaining tails.

Lace Border

2 SC in each knit stich, so that you have about 164 SC around the hat, and join with a slip stich.
Your number of SC does not have to be 164, but it does need to be divisible by 4, since the pattern is a 4 stich repeat so 156, 160, 168 would work. If you do not have enough stiches around the work it will make it so the brim of your hat will not stretch and will give it snugger fit

5 DC in the same stitch as you put your slip stich (slip stich does not count as  stitch), skip 1 stitch, SC, skip 1 stich.

The pattern repeat is
5DC in same stich, skip 1 stitch, SC, Skip 1 stitch
Repeat this until the end, if for whatever reason it doesn’t come out even don’t worry you wont be able to tell. If there are to many just skip two and then join it where you started with a slip stitch knot it off and weave in your ends. If you are short 1 stitch just skip, the skip stitch and join it with where you started using a slip stitch, knot it off and weave in your ends
